Dear Church

The last two verses of the book of Acts gives us a glimpse into Paul’s final documented days on earth, it says; 30 For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. 31 He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ — with all boldness and without hindrance! (Acts 28:30-31)

From what we know, Paul is waiting in Rome for his case to be heard by Caesar Nero. This could be a hard time for anyone, he had restrictions on travelling outside Rome and he was constantly under the watch of Romans soldiers.  But what did Paul do?  He rented a house!  And for two years, Paul’s practiced hospitality, he opened his home to ALL who came to see him. He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about Jesus – with all boldness and without hindrance.  Remember this is a man in captivity, he had all the reasons to be preoccupied with his worries and spend his time in self-imposed contemplation, his chains and custody mattered nothing for him.  God used him powerfully in his captivity as much as he did in his freedom.  Paul also wrote three powerful epistles during his two years of ‘captivity’ namely Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians.

Some of us may be at a place where we are not sensing God’s purpose in the moment.  Wherever you are in life, God never wastes our time, though we may waste it by not sensing God’s purposes in the moment.  Remember, no matter where you are in life, God isn’t finished writing your story.  Remain in Him, like Paul be available to be the conduit of God’s presence, the best chapters are yet to come!

Be Encouraged,
Mathews
